MIDDLETOWN, PA — Someone in Westmoreland County is holding a ticket worth $1.5 million after a Pennsylvania Lottery Scratch-Off sold at a Giant Eagle turned into one of the game’s top prizes.

The Pennsylvania Lottery announced Friday that a $1.5 million-winning $1,500,000 Super Star Scratch-Off ticket was sold at Giant Eagle, 41 Towne Center Drive, Allegheny Township, in Westmoreland County.

The retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The $1,500,000 Super Star Scratch-Off is a $30 game that offers top prizes of $1.5 million.

Lottery officials have not released any information about the winner, and it is unknown whether the prize has been claimed.

The Pennsylvania Lottery reminded players that Scratch-Off prizes expire one year after the game’s official end-sale date. Winners are encouraged to sign the back of their ticket immediately and contact the Pennsylvania Lottery to begin the claims process.

Lottery officials also noted that winning Scratch-Off tickets are distributed at random, meaning neither the Lottery nor retailers know where winning tickets will be sold until a prize is claimed.

All Pennsylvania Lottery prizes exceeding $5,000 are subject to applicable tax withholding.
