Camden, NJ – Detectives with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the Camden County Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a Camden resident Friday night.
According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez, officers responded at approximately 9:50 p.m. on July 31 to the 100 block of North 24th Street after receiving reports of a person who had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as Edgar Velasco-Hernandez, 35, of Camden.
Emergency responders transported Velasco-Hernandez to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 11:37 p.m.
Detectives continue homicide investigation
The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit responded to assist Camden County police with the investigation.
Authorities have not released information about what led to the shooting or whether investigators have identified a suspect.
