Avenue U retailer sells three separate $50K third-prize tickets from Wednesday’s drawing
BROOKLYN, NY – Powerball luck struck the same Brooklyn storefront three times in a single drawing, with an Avenue U retailer selling three separate third-prize-winning tickets worth $50K each — a combined $150K in prizes.
The New York Lottery announced that 1619 SRS, located at 1619 Avenue U in Brooklyn, sold all three winning tickets for the Wednesday, Aug. 12 Powerball drawing.
Each ticket won $50,000.
Together, the three tickets represent $150,000 in Powerball prizes sold from one Brooklyn location.
The New York Lottery did not disclose whether the tickets were purchased by three different players or whether one person bought more than one of them.
The identities of the ticket holders were also not announced.
Five third-prize-winning Powerball tickets were sold across New York for Wednesday’s drawing, with Brooklyn accounting for three of them.
The remaining two $50,000 tickets were sold in Medina and Manhattan.
Powerball players select five numbers from a field of 1 through 69 and a Powerball number from a separate field of 1 through 26.
Drawings are held Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m.
The New York Lottery contributes proceeds to public education across the state.
