UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. — An Upper Saddle River man has been charged after investigators alleged he fired shots that struck an occupied home in a quiet residential neighborhood.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, 60-year-old Michael L. Norcia was arrested following a joint investigation involving the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad, the Upper Saddle River Police Department, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.
Police responded at approximately noon Friday to reports of possible gunfire at a residence on Hidden Glen Road. Officers arriving at the scene determined that bullets had struck an occupied home.
Authorities said no one inside the residence was struck, and no injuries were reported.
Because of the nature of the incident, members of the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team and the Saddle River Police Department initially responded to assist while investigators secured the area.
During the investigation, officers made contact with Norcia, who lives on nearby Mill Glen Court, which backs up to Hidden Glen Road.
Detectives determined that the trajectory of one of the bullets was consistent with a path originating from the area of Norcia’s property, according to investigators.
Later that evening, detectives executed a court-authorized search warrant at Norcia’s residence, where they recovered firearms and ammunition.
Norcia was charged with second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and third-degree endangering another person. He was lodged in the Bergen County Jail pending further proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court.
Authorities said the investigation remains active, including additional examination of the firearms recovered during the search.
