JACKSON, N.J. – The future of the McDonald’s at Jackson Crossing is becoming clearer, with employees telling Shore News Network that the restaurant could close this fall and another operator is expected to take over the location.
The new information follows Shore News Network’s recent report that the Jackson Crossing McDonald’s had been placed on the commercial market. At the time, the restaurant remained open and no closing date had been announced, leaving the future of the longtime location uncertain.

Employees Say McDonald’s Could Leave This Fall
Staff members at the Jackson Township restaurant told Shore News Network they have been informed that the location could close by November.
Employees also said they understand another owner or operator will eventually take over the spot. Shore News Network has not independently confirmed the identity of that business, and there has been no formal announcement identifying a replacement tenant. The building itself is currently listed for sale on LoopNet.
The information provides the first indication from inside the restaurant that McDonald’s may actually be preparing to leave the property.
When Shore News Network first reported that the location was being marketed, the commercial listing raised immediate questions because the restaurant was still operating. The property is a standalone restaurant at 1136 East Veterans Highway within the Jackson Crossing shopping center.
The latest information from employees suggests a transition could now be approaching, although the exact timetable remains subject to change.
Another Change Coming to Jackson Crossing
A McDonald’s departure would be another notable change at the shopping center, which has seen substantial turnover among its businesses in recent years.
The restaurant occupies a prominent standalone location along East Veterans Highway and has long been one of the center’s most recognizable national chains.
Jackson Crossing has lost several familiar businesses over the years while adding new restaurants, retailers and service businesses. The shopping center’s changing tenant mix has made the future of the McDonald’s property of particular interest to residents.
Another recent departure came when Just Your Style Salon ended its nearly three-decade run at the shopping center. Shore News Network reported on the longtime Jackson salon’s closing in August.
The possible loss of McDonald’s would be more visible because of the restaurant’s standalone building, drive-through and location near the front of the center.
What Will Replace McDonald’s?
That remains the biggest unanswered question. Considering the market, pad layout, and design, it could be a Kosher drive-thru restaurant.
Staff members said another operator is expected to take over the location, but there has been no confirmed announcement identifying the incoming business. It also remains unclear whether a new operator would reuse the existing restaurant or make substantial changes to the property.
The building’s existing restaurant configuration and drive-through could make the location attractive to another food-service operator, but no replacement should be considered confirmed until the property owner or incoming tenant makes an announcement.
The franchisee also operates another location on County Line Road in the Shop Rite plaza.
