Delaware State Police say shots were fired from an unknown vehicle at a residence in Capitol Park
DOVER, DE – Gunfire tore into a Capitol Park residence early Monday, leaving a 23-year-old man wounded after an unknown shooter opened fire from a vehicle and escaped, according to Delaware State Police.
The shooting happened in the 200 block of South Governor’s Boulevard in Dover.
At approximately 1:20 a.m. Monday, police responded to Bayhealth Kent Campus after learning that a 23-year-old man was being treated for a gunshot wound.
The victim suffered an injury that was not considered life-threatening, according to state police.
A preliminary investigation determined that an unknown suspect inside an unidentified vehicle fired multiple shots at the residence, police said.
The 23-year-old was struck by the gunfire and taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.
State police have not released the victim’s identity or provided a description of the shooter or vehicle. Investigators also have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting.
The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating.
