BERKELEY – Mayor Carmen Amato renewed his support for a new VA clinic in Toms River and that he will be seeking another Council resolution requesting same.Recently,The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced that it has canceled all procurement efforts for an additional long-planned clinic. The current facility, located in Brick Township, is outdated and overcrowded and does not provide adequate services to the region’s veterans.
“Berkeley Township, Manchester Township and Toms River Township are three of the top four towns with the most number of Veterans in Ocean County.” Mayor Amato said. Brick Township is the other community rounding out the top four.
“Many of these Veterans are members of the greatest generation. It is an honor to represent these dedicated men who fought in WWII and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.They are entitled to the best medical care in the world. We, as a grateful nation, owe it to them. They should also have easy access to these services as a small token gratitude for their selfless service to our Country. ” Mayor Amato said.
