ASBURY PARK, NJ – When Asbury Park photographer Andy Russo was out taking pictures this week just south of the Ocean Grove pier, he spotted an unusual and rare effect on the jetty there.

The ocean water level was at just the right height to produce a beautiful fountain effect similar to those you would see in popular blow holes along the northern Atlantic Coast and in the Caribbean along rocky coral reef line shorelines.

Russo described the event, “Like a fountain at a park. I’ve never seen this before, and I’ve lived here all my life. I was walking along the beach. It is just south of the Ocean Grove pier.”

Fortunately, he had his camera with him and captured the event.

Russo is a well-known photographer in Asbury Park and capturing rare and historic moments on camera is nothing new for him. He runs Asbury Park photo, which captures the beauty of Asbury Park.

A video shared today by Russo shows the water appearing to bubble out from under the rock jetty through the cracks. At the end of the jetty, the ocean’s water pressure shot the water high into the air.
