Convicted felon with enough fentanyl to kill 3,000 captured breaking curfew in naples

Deputies say a 33-year-old convicted felon who broke curfew was in possession of enough fentanyl to potentially kill nearly 3,000 people.

Stephanie Tompkins of 8125 Gerbera Drive S.W. Unit 11105, Naples, was out on bond for separate narcotics trafficking cases in Collier County when deputies arrested her today in an area under the curfew imposed after Hurricane Ian.

Tompkins is charged with multiple felonies including fentanyl trafficking. This is her second arrest for fentanyl trafficking this year.

“Our deputies continue to actively enforce the curfew and make arrests when warranted,” Sheriff Rambosk said. “Thanks to our deputies, a known poison peddler is in jail and these dangerous drugs won’t ever make it onto the streets of Collier County.”

Deputies were patrolling an area south of U.S. 41 after midnight when they pulled over a white Lincoln sedan driven by Tompkins for a traffic offense.

When deputies asked Tompkins if she was aware of the active curfew, she said yes but didn’t think the area she was in was covered by it.

Deputies took Tompkins into custody on the curfew violation.

Due to Tompkins parking in a driving path, deputies conducted an inventory of her vehicle’s contents before having it towed.

Deputies found 5.6 grams of fentanyl, which is enough to kill 2,800 people.

Deputies also found other illegal narcotics including methamphetamine, alprazolam, and synthetic cannabinoids, as well as narcotic paraphernalia.
