TOMS RIVER, NJ – Former Major League Baseball player Todd Frazier, now a commentator for YES Network and the New York Yankees, caught the ceremonial first pitch from Toms River Mayor Mo Hill this weekend.

The pitch was a bit high.

Toms River East Little League celebrated their 2023 season on Saturday morning with an Opening Day Parade down Windsor Ave. East Dover Fire Company accompanied the parade, which was also attended by the NJ State Police with mounted troopers and helicopter flyovers.

The festivities included honoring three championship teams from the previous year and the 25th anniversary of TRELL’s Little League World Series victory.

Mayor Mo Hill threw out the first pitch to Todd Frazier, and Brielle MacDonald sang a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, accompanied by Paul DiGregorio on the bagpipes.

The newly improved fields, funded partly funded by the Township’s federal ARPA grants, added to the excitement. The upgrades include a turf field and new lights that will improve playing conditions and safety. TRELL’s leadership hopes to host All-Star and Regional Tournaments at the improved facility in the near future.

According to Hill’s press secretary Art Gallagher, TRELL President Tommy Noone, the entire volunteer Board, and parents were recognized and congratulated for their outstanding experiences and opportunities provided to Toms River kids. The event was a great success with families showing their support for their young athletes.
