JESSUP, Md. – One man was killed and two other people were hospitalized after an Infiniti struck an occupied, parked Howard County Police vehicle early Sunday and then crashed about a mile away, authorities said.
The initial collision happened at approximately 2:17 a.m. in the 7100 block of Montevideo Road in Jessup. Police said a 2018 Infiniti Q60 struck the police vehicle before the driver fled and an officer pursued.

Infiniti Crashes About a Mile Away
The Infiniti crashed into a retaining wall approximately one mile from where the police vehicle was struck, according to Howard County Police.
One adult male was pronounced dead at the scene. Two additional people were transported to Shock Trauma, where police said they were in stable condition.
Authorities did not immediately identify the man who died or the two people who were injured. Police also did not specify whether the man who died was driving the Infiniti or was a passenger.
No injuries to the officer in the parked police vehicle were reported in the department’s initial statement.
Police did not release additional details about the pursuit, including how long it lasted or the circumstances immediately preceding the Infiniti’s collision with the retaining wall.
Independent Investigation Underway
The Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division has assumed responsibility for investigating the fatal collision, as required under Maryland law.
Howard County Police said the IID will release follow-up information about the investigation. The department directed media inquiries concerning the fatal crash to the state investigative division.
The investigation remained ongoing Sunday morning, and authorities had not released additional information about what led to the Infiniti striking the occupied police vehicle.
Montevideo Road remained closed at the Howard County–Anne Arundel County line while investigators remained at the scene.
