Queens Men Sentenced to 50 Years to Life for 2017 Richmond Hill Murder

QUEENS, NY – Shakim Allen and Dreshaun Smith were recently sentenced to 50 years to life in prison for the murder of Sonny Kalisaran, a man visiting from Guyana, and the shooting of his brother, Rocky Kalisaran, during a Richmond Hill robbery in January 2017.

According to the charges, Allen and Smith confronted the brothers, who fought back, leading to the shooting.

Allen, 29, and Smith, 29, were convicted of murder in the second degree, attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and tampering with physical evidence.

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz expressed hope that the family of the victims can find peace in the sentencing of Smith and Allen.
