One-year-old boy killed in Queens Fire

NEW YORK, NY – A one-year-old was killed in a fire at a home in Queens on Sunday, and investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.

On Sunday, at around 11 pm, a call was made to report a fire at 144-12 106 Avenue in Jamaica, Queens.

After an intense battle against the flames, FDNY personnel fought the fire and during the course of their search and rescue operations, found a 1-year-old male, later identified as Jason Eli, unconscious and unresponsive on one of the upper floors of the residence.

Heavy smoke and flames were seen coming from the home as firefighters rushed to extinguish the blaze.

Immediate medical attention was provided by on-scene Emergency Medical Services who transported the boy to Long Island Jewish Cohens Children’s Medical Center.

Jason was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital. There were no other injuries reported in the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the FDNY Fire Marshal.
