BRONX, NY – A Bronx man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for the murder of his wife in 2010. Hector Ramirez, 42, was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter on June 5, following a trial.

Ramirez fatally stabbed his wife, Ella Zamora, during an argument in their Kingsbridge Heights home on August 29, 2010. The event took place in front of their 9-year-old son.

Following the incident, Ramirez managed to evade law enforcement, but was apprehended in Las Vegas in 2022.

The sentencing was carried out by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Marsha Michael. The victim’s sister is now caring for the child.
