Man Charged for Menacing Victim with Box Cutter

UTICA, NY – On Wednesday, Utica Police Department units were dispatched to an address on the 1100 block of Elm St following a menacing incident involving a box cutter.

Upon reaching the scene, police met the victim who reported that an individual they knew had threatened them with a box cutter.

The victim identified the suspect, Melton Spinks, age 53 of Utica, who was still at the location. Spinks was detained without any further incident.

Spinks was transported to the Utica Police Department for further investigation.

 Upon conclusion of the investigation, Spinks was charged with Menacing in the second degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree.
