WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a rapid response by local authorities, a stolen D.C. Fire and EMS ambulance was recovered, and a suspect was taken into custody this morning in Southeast D.C.

Early this morning, an ambulance from the D.C. Fire and EMS was taken while crew members responded to a call on the 3600 block of 22nd St. in Southeast D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department acted swiftly, resulting in the prompt recovery of the ambulance and the apprehension of the suspect involved in the theft.

Despite the unexpected incident, the D.C. Fire and EMS crew remained on site, continuing their care for the patient, who was unharmed during the ordeal. The patient was subsequently transported by an American Medical Response (AMR) unit, which had been called to assist.

The Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is handling all further inquiries into the incident as the investigation progresses.
