NEW YORK CITY, NY – Jonathan Huertas, also known as “El Don,” faces multiple charges including operating as a major trafficker, following his indictment in Manhattan Supreme Court. The indictment stems from his alleged involvement in two kidnappings and assaults related to a drug dispute in the Morris Park neighborhood of the Bronx in early 2022.
Huertas, who fled New York after the arrest of three co-conspirators, was captured in Jalisco, Mexico, in September 2023. He had been a fugitive for over a year and a half before being deported back to the United States. The indictment also includes plans for a third kidnapping, with the investigation revealing that these incidents were linked to the theft of narcotics.
Scheduled for arraignment before Justice Steven Statsinger in Manhattan Supreme Court, Huertas faces charges of second-degree conspiracy, operating as a major trafficker, first and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault, and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia.
