WARREN COUNTY, PA – Michael Charles Burham, a 35-year-old suspect in a series of serious crimes, has been sentenced to a prison term ranging from 25 years and two months to 50 years and four months. This sentence follows Burham’s guilty plea in November 2023 to charges of kidnapping an elderly couple and escaping from prison. He was also sentenced for four additional, lesser crimes.
The capture of Burham, who had previously evaded law enforcement, was notably assisted by a chocolate Labrador named Tucker. The dog, belonging to a Pennsylvania couple, played a crucial role in detecting Burham’s presence, leading to his eventual arrest.
Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Pennsylvania State Police, Warren County District Attorney’s Office, and the City of Warren Police Department in bringing Burham to justice. She emphasized that Burham had used all possible means to escape accountability for his actions.
Warren County Judge Gregory J. Hammond, during the sentencing, described Burham as a “grave threat to the public” requiring protection from him. The judge remarked on Burham’s extreme measures to maintain his freedom and noted his significant need for rehabilitation.
