Traffic Stop in Severn Leads to Firearm Seizure and Arrest

by Jeff Jones

On January 22, at around 5:00 p.m., a routine traffic stop on Annapolis Road and Disney Road in Severn, Maryland, led to the arrest of a 33-year-old man for weapon possession.

The incident began when a police officer stopped a white box truck for a traffic violation. During the stop, the officer discovered that the driver, identified as Darius Taylor Jones from Severn, had an active warrant. A subsequent search of the truck revealed a loaded 9mm handgun in the passenger compartment.

Jones, who is legally barred from possessing firearms, was taken into custody and faces charges related to the firearm found in his vehicle. This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to address illegal weapon possession and ensure public safety on the roads.
