Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Allegheny County Police Department is conducting an investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the South Side Slopes neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

The incident began in the early hours of the morning when Pittsburgh Police were alerted to a ShotSpotter notification in the 1900 block of Huron Street at 1:38 AM. Upon arrival, a Pittsburgh Police officer encountered a male outside a residence. At 1:49 AM, shots were reported to have been fired, resulting in the adult male being shot.

Responding officers immediately provided CPR and medical aid to the wounded individual. He was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. There are currently no reports of other injuries related to this incident.

Following the shooting, the Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit was summoned to initiate a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident. The status of the officer involved will be reviewed and determined by the Pittsburgh Police, adhering to their established policies and procedures.
