Fatal Scooter Accident In D.C. Leaves One Dead and One Critically Injured

WASHINGTON, D.C. An accident involving a car and a scooter occurred on the Whitney Young Memorial Bridge late Friday night, resulting in the death of a scooter passenger and critical injuries to the driver.

D.C. Metro Police Department reports that the accident happened just after 10 p.m. on Feb. 9, when a car collided with the rear of a scooter traveling in the bridge’s center lane.

Both individuals on the scooter were ejected onto the roadway following the collision. The scooter’s passenger was struck by a second vehicle, leading to fatal injuries at the scene. The driver, meanwhile, was rushed to a local hospital with critical injuries.

The identity of the victims have not been released at this time.

Following the accident, both vehicles involved in the incident fled the scene, failing to provide assistance or identify themselves. Police are actively investigating the hit-and-run and urge anyone with information to contact them at (202) 727-9099 or send a tip via text to 50411.
