POINT PLEASANT BEACH, N.J. – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Thursday identified Kaitlyn Tracey as a Canadian citizen who allegedly overstayed her U.S. visa before being arrested in connection with the alleged assault of a teenage girl on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk over the Fourth of July weekend.
In a statement posted on X, DHS said Tracey “is a criminal illegal alien from Canada” who was charged with simple assault, neglect of a child, compounding crime, and harassing communication after the incident. Those charges remain allegations, and the criminal case is pending.
According to DHS, Tracey entered the United States on April 14, 2024, using a visa that was scheduled to expire on Sept. 6, 2024.
ICE Confirms Tracey Apprehended by Agents
“On July 13, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Newark personnel took custody of Kaitlyn Tracey, an illegal alien from Canada with pending criminal charges after a detainer was lodged against her with the Ocean County Jail in Toms River, New Jersey. Tracey overstayed her visa in violation of our nation’s laws,” ICE told Shore News Network today. “”The Point Pleasant Beach Police Department in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, charged Tracey with simple assault, endangering-abuse/neglect, obstruction, and harassment following an incident July 3 when she allegedly slapped a teenager.”
“Tracey will receive full due process while in ICE custody pending removal proceedings,” ICE said.
DHS says visa was overstayed
The agency said Tracey failed to leave the United States after her authorized stay ended.
“She entered the United States on April 14, 2024, on a visa set to expire on September 6, 2024. In violation of our nation’s laws, she overstayed her visa and failed to depart,” DHS said.
Federal officials also confirmed that after Tracey’s arrest by the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department, officers coordinated her transfer into the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement where she will face legal proceedings for deportation.
