Haverhill Man Admits to Distributing Fentanyl and Methamphetamine Pills

April 6, 2024

BOSTON, MAA local man pleads guilty to major drug trafficking charges related to the distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Angel Joel Diaz, known as “Guero,” 35, from Haverhill, admitted to charges involving the distribution of tens of thousands of pills laced with fentanyl and methamphetamine. His plea comes ahead of a sentencing date set for July 10, 2024, by U.S. District Court Judge Richard G. Stearns, following his indictment in April 2023.

The investigation into Diaz’s operation began in January 2023, uncovering his involvement in manufacturing and distributing counterfeit prescription pills containing dangerous levels of fentanyl. Undercover operations led to Diaz selling hundreds and then thousands of these counterfeit pills to an officer, boasting about their potency and the impact they had in other states.

Diaz’s arrest on February 15, 2023, revealed he was in possession of over 31,000 fentanyl pills. Further searches at his residence uncovered equipment and materials used for pill manufacturing, including a press, stamps for making counterfeit pills, and protective gear indicating the hazardous nature of the substances he handled.

Diaz faces significant prison time, including potential life imprisonment, for his role in distributing large quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine, underlining the serious legal consequences of drug trafficking operations.
