WASHINGTON, D.C. – A juvenile has been taken into custody by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District for his involvement in an armed robbery in Columbia Heights.

The incident, which unfolded on March 17th, involved the victim meeting with the suspects on the 1400 block of Belmont Street, Northwest, to sell a pair of sneakers. During the exchange, one of the suspects brandished a handgun, later identified as a BB gun, and demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied, and the suspects fled the area on a scooter.

Following a thorough investigation, a 16-year-old male from Northwest was arrested yesterday, and charged with armed robbery. The case is still under investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the police.
