After Arresting Illegal Alien Sex Offender Harbored on Long Island, ICE Vows to Continue Removing the Bad Guys

NEW YORK — A previously removed Salvadoran national was arrested Tuesday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in New York. ERO deportation officers assigned to the ERO New York Long Island Sub-Office’s Joint Criminal Alien Removal Taskforce (JCART), assisted by members of the U.S. Marshals Service’s NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Alcides Acosta-Euceda, a 31-year-old citizen of El Salvador, in Central Islip, New York. Acosta-Euceda has been charged in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York (EDNY), with a violation of 8 USC 1326(a) and 1326(b)(2), illegal re-entry after removal, as an aggravated felon.

ICE previously removed Acosta-Euceda to El Salvador on June 6, 2018, following a July 2017 felony conviction, for Rape 3rd Degree: victim less than 17 years, perpetrator 21 years or more, in Suffolk County (NY) Superior Court. On Sept. 29, 2017, Acosta-Euceda was sentenced to 10 years of probation supervision and required to register as a sexual offender.

In January 2019, ERO deportation officers initiated an investigation to locate and arrest Acosta-Euceda. On March 26, 2019, ERO deportation officers arrested Acosta-Euceda pursuant to probable cause. Acosta-Euceda was presented before the Duty U.S. Magistrate Judge in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York (EDNY), a criminal complaint was sworn out charging Acosta-Euceda with a violation of 8 USC 1326(b)(2), illegal re-entry after removal, as an aggravated felon. Additionally, Acosta-Euceda will be investigated for violation of 18 USC 2250, Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

“Acosta-Euceda had already been removed from this country once before following a rape conviction. It is unfathomable that there is anyone who would want an illegal alien, previously convicted of rape, living in their neighborhood,” said Thomas R. Decker, field office director for ERO New York. “The men and women of ICE have the vital role of arresting and removing criminal aliens from this country, and will continue to perform their duties as intended by Congress with veracity, courage, and professionalism.”

Acosta-Euceda was presented in front of a Magistrate Judge in EDNY, and remanded into U.S. Marshals Service, pending trial.
