August 1, 2025

An Alexandria police officer has been charged with reckless driving after crashing into another vehicle while pursuing a stolen car last month, authorities confirmed.

Key Points

  • Officer Damon Frazier was involved in a crash while chasing a stolen vehicle on June 14
  • Both the officer and a civilian sustained minor injuries and were hospitalized
  • Frazier was issued a summons for reckless driving and remains on duty pending review

The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, at the intersection of Franklin and South Patrick Streets. Officer Damon Frazier, who was actively engaged in a pursuit, collided with a civilian vehicle, leaving both drivers with minor injuries. They were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Following a review by the Alexandria Commonwealth’s Attorney, Frazier was served a summons for reckless driving—a Class 1 misdemeanor under Virginia law.

Frazier, who joined the Alexandria Police Department in October, remains on duty as the department conducts an internal administrative review.

Officials noted that all Alexandria officers undergo Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) training, designed to promote safe pursuit practices.

No additional information has been released.
