Allentown officers rescue man in crisis from burning home, three hospitalized

ALLENTOWN, PA – A dramatic rescue unfolded Friday afternoon in Allentown when police and firefighters pulled a man from a burning home while responding to reports of a person in crisis who may have been armed. The incident occurred around 1:45 p.m. on the 700 block of South 10th Street, according to a statement from the Allentown Police Department.

Responding officers learned that a fire had broken out inside a residence where an individual was experiencing a mental health emergency. Police and members of the Allentown Fire Department entered the home and successfully rescued the occupant.

The man, along with two police officers involved in the rescue, was transported by Allentown paramedics to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Officials said all three are recovering.
