Allentown police charge student after false bomb threat at Trexler Middle School

Allentown, PA – A bomb threat that forced a police and fire response to Trexler Middle School on Monday morning has been deemed false, authorities confirmed.

The incident began around 8:30 a.m. when the Allentown Police Department received a report of a possible explosive device at the school. Officers, working with school district staff and security, evacuated students and conducted a sweep of the building and grounds. A police canine team trained in explosive detection found no suspicious packages.

Following the search, investigators with the department’s Youth Division identified a juvenile male student as the source of the threat. Police said the student was taken into custody without incident and charged with terroristic threats.

Officials stressed that, as in all criminal cases, the charge is an accusation, and the juvenile is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Classes at Trexler Middle School resumed after the all-clear was given, and no injuries were reported.

The police department said no further comment will be made at this stage of the investigation.
