AOC Pretends to be Handcuffed During Arrest at Supreme Court Protest

WASHINGTON, D.C. – New York City U.S. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was one of 35 people arrested, including 17 members of Congress after violating the law and obstructing traffic in front of the U.S. Supreme Court.

AOC was led away from the scene in imaginary handcuffs, being escorted by Capitol Police officers. The New York City Congresswoman, always with a flair for the dramatic, pretended she was handcuffed. Capitol Police officers never put handcuffs on the Congresswoman.

The handcuff photo released by AOC later in the day was a ruse intended to make her followers think she was handcuffed.

“This afternoon the United States Capitol Police (USCP) arrested 35 people, including 17 Members of Congress, for blocking First Street, NE, near the U.S. Supreme Court,” the U.S. Capitol Police reported.

The group of demonstrators went into the street around 1:15 p.m.

“It is against the law to block traffic, so officers gave the demonstrators three standard warnings to get out of the street,” the agency said. “When the demonstrators refused to get out of the street, the officers arrested them for Crowding, Obstructing or Incommoding.”

Within hours of her arrest, a mugshot went viral on the internet, but it was simply an internet meme photoshopped as humor.
