Armed robbers crash bash in Maryland hotel

Armed trio crashes New Year’s Eve party at Embassy Suites in Gaithersburg and robs guests at gunpoint

GAITHERSBURG, MD – Detectives are investigating an armed robbery that unfolded just after midnight on New Year’s Day, when three suspects forced their way into a hotel room at the Embassy Suites in Gaithersburg and robbed partygoers at gunpoint.

Montgomery County Police said the robbery occurred at approximately 12:42 a.m. on January 1 at the hotel located in the 6700 block of Democracy Boulevard. According to investigators, a female suspect knocked on the door of a hotel room where a New Year’s Eve party was taking place. When the door opened, two armed male suspects forced their way in.

Once inside, the suspects ordered the victims to the ground and stole personal belongings before fleeing in a dark-colored sedan. No injuries were reported.

Surveillance video from the hotel captured the suspects arriving and leaving the scene. Detectives have released images and are seeking the public’s help in identifying them.

Descriptions of the suspects are as follows:

  • Suspect One: Black female, heavy-set, in her twenties, wearing a black puffy jacket, silver sweater, black pants, and white shoes
  • Suspect Two: Black male, early twenties, slim build, wearing dark clothing and a full-face mask, armed with a handgun
  • Suspect Three: Black male, estimated age 17 to 23, heavy-set, wearing dark clothing
