Beaver County man arrested with loaded gun, suspected drugs inside Penn Hills store

DEA task force officers detain suspect after struggle at GetGo on Frankstown Road

Pittsburgh, PA – A Beaver County man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he was found carrying a loaded handgun and suspected narcotics inside a Penn Hills convenience store during a coordinated law enforcement operation.

Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus announced that the incident occurred Monday just after 4:00 p.m. at the GetGo on Frankstown Road. A detective with the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, assigned to a DEA Task Force, was inside the store with other task force members when they observed a man with what appeared to be a firearm in his sweatshirt pocket.

The suspect was later identified as Fidell Eberhart, 34, of Aliquippa.

Suspect allegedly reached for weapon during confrontation

According to officials, Eberhart entered the store’s restroom and was confronted by task force members when he exited. He was ordered to place his hands behind his back but allegedly attempted to evade officers.

Authorities said Eberhart reached for the weapon multiple times before detectives were able to restrain him, bring him to the ground, and place him in handcuffs. A second task force member recovered the firearm, identified as a Glock Model 22 with a round in the chamber and a fully loaded magazine.

Cash and suspected drugs recovered

A search following the arrest reportedly uncovered approximately $7,000 in cash and a bag containing 45 stamp bags of suspected narcotics.

Eberhart was transported to the Allegheny County Jail and is facing charges related to firearms offenses, drug possession, and resisting arrest.
