Home nurse accused of abusing medically fragile child caught on surveillance video

Nurse caught on camera allegedly abusing child under her care

BENSALEM, Pa. — What was supposed to be trusted in-home care for a medically fragile child has turned into a deeply disturbing case after surveillance video revealed alleged abuse by a night nurse.

The investigation began after a ChildLine report raised concerns about possible abuse inside a home on Locust Avenue.

It was the child’s mother who uncovered what had been happening.

After reviewing surveillance footage from inside the home, she allegedly saw the assigned nurse — identified as Cindy Dresser — physically harming the child.

Authorities say the child was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for evaluation following the discovery.

Detectives later reviewed multiple recordings, which they say showed repeated incidents of abuse.

According to investigators, the footage captured the nurse throwing the child within the crib, striking the child and sleeping during her shift.

In one of the most serious moments, officials allege the nurse removed the child’s tracheostomy tube and failed to immediately reinsert it, causing the child to struggle to breathe.

Following the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued charging Dresser with endangering the welfare of a child.

She was later taken into custody by Warwick Township Police and turned over to Bensalem authorities.

Dresser was arraigned and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility after bail was set at $2 million.

The investigation remains ongoing.
