Pittsburgh fugitive wanted for brutal assault captured hiding in Beechview home
Pittsburgh, PA – A man accused of a violent attack tied to a domestic dispute was captured earlier Monday after skipping his trial and hiding out in a Beechview residence, according to the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office.
Daniel Simcox, 34, was arrested without incident at a home on Broadway Avenue just months after he failed to appear in court for a non-jury trial on serious felony charges. Simcox was originally arrested in September last year by Pittsburgh Police following a vicious assault involving the acquaintance of his ex-girlfriend.
Investigators say Simcox confronted the man, slammed him to the floor, and repeatedly kicked him in the head and ribs while threatening to kill him. He was charged with aggravated assault, burglary, and making terroristic threats.
After missing his scheduled court appearance in late July, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. Detectives tracked him back to a prior known address in Beechview and executed the arrest earlier today. He is now being held at the Allegheny County Jail.
Officials have not released any further information regarding the upcoming court proceedings following his re-arrest.
