Bensalem Police K-9 Taz Receives New Ballistic Vest Thanks to Union Donations

Three Philadelphia-area labor unions donated funds to equip Bensalem Police K-9 Taz with a new ballistic vest, providing added protection while serving alongside officers.

Bensalem Township, PA – The Bensalem Township Police Department is recognizing three labor unions for their donations that funded a new ballistic vest for police K-9 Taz, giving the working dog additional protection while serving the community.

The department thanked Electricians Local Union 98, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Plasterers & Cement Masons Local 592, and Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 19 for their contributions toward the purchase of the protective equipment.

New vest provides added protection

Police said K-9 Taz regularly works alongside his handler in situations that can place both in danger. The ballistic vest provides an additional layer of protection as the dog continues assisting officers in law enforcement operations throughout the township.

“K-9 Taz serves our community with unwavering loyalty and courage, often placing himself in harm’s way alongside his handler,” the department said in a statement. “Thanks to the generosity and support of these organizations, Taz now has an added layer of protection as he continues his mission of serving and protecting the residents of Bensalem Township.”

Community partnership recognized

The department said the donations reflect the strong partnership between local organizations and law enforcement, noting that the support helps improve the safety of both officers and their K-9 partners.

“Your commitment to the safety of our officers and K-9 partners reflects the strong partnership we share in serving our community,” the department said. “We are grateful for your generosity and your continued support of those who stand watch over Bensalem every day.”

Police concluded their announcement by thanking the unions for helping keep K-9 Taz safe while he continues serving the residents of Bensalem Township.
