Bensalem Says Philly Trash Not Welcome

BENSALEM, Pa. — Officials in Bensalem Township are ramping up enforcement to prevent illegal dumping from Philadelphia as the city continues to deal with a sanitation workers’ strike.

With trash accumulating on streets and sidewalks across Philadelphia due to the District Council 33 strike, Bensalem Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo has directed police and township code enforcement to take proactive measures against illegal dumping.

“Mayor DiGirolamo has taken a firm stance on this issue,” the Bensalem Police Department stated. Patrols will be increased, and surveillance technology will be deployed to monitor for violations.

The township says anyone caught dumping trash from Philadelphia will be prosecuted.

Officials are urging Philadelphia residents to use one of the 60 designated sanitation drop-off locations provided by the city.
