Boston police seize loaded ghost gun, fentanyl pills in Roxbury arrest

A teenager fleeing through a Roxbury housing complex dropped a loaded ghost gun and a bag containing fentanyl and crack cocaine, leading to a series of firearm and drug charges, according to Boston police.

BOSTON, MA – A 17-year-old Roxbury male was arrested Friday evening after officers recovered a loaded 9mm ghost gun and nearly 200 fentanyl pills during a pursuit near Cathedral Housing Developments. The arrest unfolded around 6:05 p.m. in the area of 2 East Brookline Street following what officers described as suspicious behavior and an attempted flight.

Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force were patrolling Monsignor Reynolds Way when they observed three males in a courtyard. As officers entered the parking lot, the group began walking away and moved behind dumpsters, appearing to conceal themselves. The juvenile, identified as part of the group, separated and increased his pace while repeatedly looking back at officers.

Foot pursuit leads to firearm recovery

The teen then turned toward 42 Harrison Archways before suddenly sprinting toward East Brookline Street and Washington Street. During the chase, officers observed him clutching his waistband. Moments later, a hooded sweatshirt and a firearm fell from his person, with officers reporting they heard the weapon strike the ground.

Police apprehended the suspect shortly afterward without further incident. The recovered weapon was identified as a 9mm ghost gun with a purple slide, black receiver, and purple magazine. It was loaded with one round in the chamber and 15 rounds in a large-capacity magazine.

Drugs, ammunition found during search

A subsequent search uncovered a black fanny pack inside a backpack carried by the suspect. Inside, officers found narcotics, a knife with white powder residue, drug paraphernalia, and one live 9mm round of ammunition.

Investigators reported seizing 199 fentanyl pills weighing approximately 30 grams, a plastic bag containing about five grams of crack cocaine, and an additional gram of loose crack cocaine.

The juvenile is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on multiple charges, including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large-capacity feeding device, trafficking fentanyl, and possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs.
