Victims say they were attacked from behind and robbed while walking near Charles Street.
BOSTON, MA – A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a Wednesday evening robbery in Dorchester that left one victim hospitalized, according to Boston police.
Officers assigned to District C-11 responded around 7:07 p.m. to the area of 42 Charles Street after receiving a radio call for a robbery. When officers arrived, victims reported they had been walking along Park Street toward Charles Street when three individuals approached them from behind and carried out the attack.
Attack unfolded quickly on Park Street
According to investigators, one of the victims was punched in the back of the head before the suspects grabbed a cell phone. The group then fled the area on foot toward Dorchester Avenue. Boston EMS transported one of the victims to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening.
Detectives assigned to C-11 began reviewing the case and circulated an image of individuals believed to be connected to the incident. The investigation progressed within minutes.
Arrest made less than an hour after robbery
At approximately 7:42 p.m., officers located two individuals matching the descriptions provided in the earlier alert. One of those individuals, identified as a 14-year-old juvenile male, was taken into custody.
Police said the juvenile is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on a charge of unarmed robbery. The second individual who had been stopped was released shortly after the encounter.
The investigation remains ongoing.
