A sidewalk gathering turns deadly as gunfire erupts across the street in Braddock
BRADDOCK, PA – A pre-dawn shooting in Braddock left one woman dead and two others fighting for their lives after gunfire broke out along Braddock Avenue early this morning. Emergency dispatchers received the call just after 2 a.m., sending first responders to a chaotic scene where multiple victims had been struck.
According to the Allegheny County Police Department, “At 2:02 am this date, County 9-1-1 was notified of a shooting in the 800 block of Braddock Ave.” When crews arrived, they found “an adult female deceased on scene and two adult females shot,” with the surviving victims transported to area hospitals in critical condition.
Investigation underway after sidewalk gathering targeted
The department’s Homicide Unit was called in to assist with the investigation as detectives began working to piece together what led to the gunfire. Officials said the shooting occurred while a small group had gathered outside.
“Preliminary information shows a small group of people were gathered on the sidewalk outside of 800 Braddock Ave when an unknown suspect began firing at them from across the street,” the department stated.
No suspect information has been released, and investigators have not said what may have prompted the shooting. Detectives remained active at the scene as they worked to collect evidence and speak with potential witnesses.
