Brick Mayor Lisa Crates Reaffirms Commitment to Police Department

Brick Township, NJ – Mayor Lisa Crate has reaffirmed her commitment to the safety of Brick Township residents through a strong partnership with Chief of Police, Chief Forrester. According to Mayor Crate, the well-being of the community is the topmost priority for both the office of the mayor and the police department.

Mayor Crate and Chief Forrester have been in regular meetings to ensure that the Brick Township Police Department has all the necessary resources, including manpower, equipment, and general support. They believe that effective policing is a community-wide concern and not just confined to the township. The Chief is actively coordinating with various law enforcement agencies to maintain safety standards.

Brick Township has routinely been named one of the safest small cities in America and despite the crime wave plaguing the country and the open door of former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s Bail Reform Act, the community remains safe.

Like all communities, Brick is not free of crime, but when a home burglary is the most pressing crime in a community of roughy 100,000 residents, it’s not a bad thing.

While Mayor Crate acknowledges that the police are continuously working on recent case developments, she emphasizes the importance of not disclosing any details that could hinder investigations. “I am asking you to trust the men and women sworn to keep us safe,” she said, urging the community to respect the expertise of law enforcement professionals.

Over the past decade, the council has invested millions of dollars in upgrading police equipment and training. The police force has grown from 128 to 146 officers, signaling a tangible commitment from the township to ensure a safer environment.

Additionally, Mayor Crate calls on the community to play an active role in neighborhood safety. She encourages residents to be vigilant and look out for their neighbors. If anything unusual is noticed, she asks people to contact the Brick Police. Community members are also invited to join or establish Neighborhood Watch programs and to interact with Community Policing officers for tips on safety.

Mayor Crate stresses that community safety is a collective responsibility. Through partnership and shared goals, both the community and law enforcement can work cohesively to maintain a safe and secure Brick Township.
