Bronx bus robbery and assault reported at East 188 Street stop

Police say a suspect struck a passenger and stole jewelry before fleeing on foot in the Bronx.

BRONX, N.Y. – A 42-year-old man was punched and robbed while riding an MTA bus Friday afternoon near the intersection of East 188 Street and the Grand Concourse, according to the NYPD. The attack unfolded around 4:15 p.m., when an unidentified individual approached the victim and struck him in the face.

The suspect then forcibly removed the victim’s earrings and chain before exiting and fleeing on foot eastbound along East 188 Street. The victim’s condition has not been disclosed, and no arrests have been made.

“Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477),” NYPD Crimestoppers stated. “The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website.”

Suspect description released by police

Police described the suspect as a male with a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, a black winter hat, and black sneakers.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to come forward as the search for the suspect continues.
