Powerball players score $200K wins with lucky tickets sold in Brooklyn and Southampton

BROOKLYN, NY – Two New Yorkers are waking up significantly richer after purchasing Powerplay tickets that each hit for $200,000 in Tuesday night’s Powerball drawing — one in the heart of Brooklyn and the other out east in Southampton.

According to the New York Lottery, the first winning ticket was sold at Best Liquor 797, located at 797 Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn. The second was purchased at the Speedway station at 816 County Road 39 in Southampton. Both tickets matched enough numbers to win the third-tier prize and included the Powerplay option, which doubled the usual $100,000 prize to $200,000.

The winning numbers were drawn during the regular Powerball drawing at 10:59 p.m., which is held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Players who select the Powerplay option can multiply non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times, depending on the multiplier drawn.

Winners have not yet been identified, and it is not known if the prizes were claimed as of Thursday morning.

The New York Lottery remains the most profitable in North America, generating $3.6 billion in funding for public schools across the state during the latest fiscal year.

Lottery officials also reminded the public that help is available for anyone experiencing gambling-related problems, with resources accessible online and by phone or text.
