Brooklyn man fatally shot outside East 18th Street building

BROOKLYN, NY – A 42-year-old man was killed Friday night after being shot multiple times during an assault outside a residential building in Flatbush, police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call around 8:38 p.m. for an assault in front of 80 East 18th Street, where they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the left leg and abdomen.

Emergency medical personnel rushed the man to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Police have not released the victim’s name pending notification of his family.

Gunman fled scene as police canvass neighborhood

Detectives from the 70th Precinct are leading the investigation and spent Friday night canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage.

Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive, and no arrests have been made.

Neighbors reported hearing several gunshots followed by people running from the scene before officers arrived.

Investigation ongoing in Flatbush homicide

The shooting marks another act of late-night violence in the neighborhood as investigators work to determine whether the victim was targeted or the incident stemmed from a dispute.
