Bullet rips through Hanover home and lodges in book as gunfire mystery unfolds

A resident heard a gunshot before discovering a projectile had pierced the home and embedded itself inside a book

HANOVER, Md. — A Hanover resident got a startling surprise Saturday evening after hearing a gunshot and later discovering a projectile had blasted through the home, punched a hole in the ceiling and lodged inside a book, according to Anne Arundel County police.

Officers responded at approximately 6:05 p.m. Sunday to a residence in the 7800 block of Arbor Grove Drive for a report of property damage caused by a fired projectile.

According to police, the resident reported hearing a gunshot before noticing a hole in the ceiling and finding a projectile lodged in a book sitting on a television stand.

Officers canvassed the surrounding neighborhood but were unable to locate any suspects or additional witnesses.

No injuries were reported.

Western District detectives are investigating the incident and have not released information regarding where the shot may have originated.
