Burglar nabbed fast after brazen DC break in

MPD makes quick arrest in 8th Street burglary

Washington, DC – A midmorning burglary in Northwest ended quickly when officers reviewing surveillance footage spotted a suspect nearby and moved in, leading to an arrest and the recovery of stolen property.

The burglary occurred Sunday, February 1, at about 11:44 a.m. in the 2100 block of 8th Street, Northwest. Officers responded after receiving a report that two suspects had forcibly entered an establishment and taken property before fleeing the scene.

Security camera footage from the location provided responding officers with images of the suspects. While canvassing the area, officers located one of the individuals believed to be involved and took him into custody without incident. Property obtained during the burglary was recovered.

Patrick David Brewer, 34, who has no fixed address, was charged with burglary two in connection with the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to identify and locate the second suspect. Anyone with information related to the burglary is asked to contact police at 202-727-9099 or submit a tip by texting 50411. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in crimes committed within the District.
