Camden, N.J. – A Burlington County man has been charged with multiple drug and firearm-related offenses, according to U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger.
Daniel Garcia Jr., 27, of Maple Shade, faces charges for possession with intent to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine and possession of firearms by a convicted felon. His initial court appearance is set for a later date.
The charges stem from a June 23, 2024, incident when Garcia and another individual rushed an unresponsive minor to a hospital. The minor exhibited symptoms of seizure and cardiac issues. A toxicology screening revealed the presence of benzodiazepine, fentanyl, and cocaine. Although benzodiazepine and fentanyl were administered as part of the minor’s treatment, medical professionals confirmed that cocaine had not been used, attributing the minor’s symptoms to a cocaine overdose.
Following this incident, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Garcia’s residence on June 24, 2024, uncovering ammunition, cash, and drug paraphernalia. A subsequent search of a vehicle associated with Garcia on June 25, 2024, revealed over $150,000 in cash, multiple drugs, including 329.1 grams of methamphetamine and 767 grams of cocaine, as well as three loaded firearms.
Garcia faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years for drug trafficking and up to life in prison, with a maximum fine of $10 million. He also faces a separate charge for possession of firearms as a convicted felon, carrying up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
