Cameras capture suspects in East Main Street drive‑by as detectives seek IDs

COLUMBUS, OH — Two men walked into a crowded East Main Street parking lot on the night of October 20 and opened fire on a vehicle as it tried to leave, striking the car multiple times, and now detectives are circulating surveillance images and asking the public to help identify the shooters.

The shooting occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of East Main Street when two victims were backing out of a parking space and preparing to exit. As the victim vehicle drove through the lot, one suspect produced a handgun and fired multiple rounds into and around the car. The victims were struck by gunfire and the vehicle sustained multiple bullet impacts, according to investigators. Security cameras at the scene captured clear images of one suspect wearing a yellow sweatshirt over a black T‑shirt, and both suspects are visible in additional footage released by police.

Detectives say the attack appeared unprovoked and happened quickly as the victims attempted to leave the parking lot. The investigation is ongoing and police are reviewing surveillance from nearby businesses and traffic cameras to track the suspects’ movements before and after the shooting. Officers ask anyone who recognizes the individuals or who may have captured video of the incident to come forward.
