BALTIMORE, MD — A routine trip for a car wash turned into a life-changing moment for a Parkville couple last weekend when they won $50,000 on a Millionaire’s Club scratch-off ticket.

The pair, who regularly buy lottery tickets several times a week, stopped at the Canton BP gas station on O’Donnell Street in Baltimore after recognizing it as a spot where they’d previously hit a smaller prize. The ticket they purchased, a $20 scratch-off from the Millionaire’s Club series, ended up delivering their largest win to date.

“It was a car wash gift certificate,” said the husband, a federal employee, describing how their Christmas gift led them to the city. His wife, a general contractor, recalled their excitement upon scratching off the $50,000 win, saying, “You should have seen the look on my wife’s face.”

The Millionaire’s Club ticket, which debuted in July 2024, has a top prize of $1 million, two of which remain unclaimed, along with two additional $50,000 prizes. This recent win highlights the game’s popularity among Maryland Lottery players.

The couple, who plan to use the prize money to pay off bills and bolster their savings, said the win was both unexpected and thrilling.
