MPD makes arrest in Pennsylvania Avenue assault
Washington, DC – A violent early-morning encounter on Pennsylvania Avenue that left a man injured has led to an arrest months later, as investigators continue searching for a second suspect caught on camera.
The assault happened around 1:08 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, in the 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast, when two suspects approached a man and attacked him. Investigators say the victim was struck with a chair before both suspects fled the scene.
The injured man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life threatening.
Following an investigation and the issuance of a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, officers with MPD’s Criminal Apprehension Unit located and arrested 34-year-old Korey Klimes of Cheverly, Maryland, on January 31. Klimes was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon involving a chair.
Investigators say a second suspect remains unidentified. That individual was captured on surveillance footage during the incident, and detectives are continuing efforts to determine their identity.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a violent crime committed in the District.
