Chesapeake police seek suspect in $8,000 bank fraud

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Authorities are searching for a suspect involved in an alleged bank fraud that occurred on Friday, July 19, at a bank in the 100 block of Mount Pleasant Road, according to a statement from the Chesapeake Crime Line.

The suspect reportedly used fake identification to withdraw $8,000 from the victim’s bank account. No additional details about the suspect’s identity or appearance have been released by authorities.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual responsible for the fraudulent withdrawal. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Chesapeake Crime Line.

Tips can be provided anonymously by calling 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (1-888-562-5887), submitting a tip through P3TIPS.COM, or using the P3TIPS smartphone app. Callers will not be asked to give their names or testify in court.

A reward may be offered for tips leading to an arrest or the recovery of stolen funds.
