CUMBERLAND, Md. – The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police Barrack C have combined resources in an ongoing effort to locate and arrest individuals with outstanding warrants across Allegany County.
Authorities announced the results of Thursday’s enforcement operation, which led to the apprehension of five individuals facing charges ranging from drug distribution offenses to failure-to-appear warrants stemming from traffic violations.
Drug indictments result in multiple arrests
According to the sheriff’s office, 25-year-old Rashawn Malik Younger of Cumberland was served with a Grand Jury indictment charging him with CDS possession not involving cannabis, possession with intent to distribute narcotics and resisting or interfering with arrest. Following a bail review in Circuit Court, Younger was ordered held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.
Donald Matthew Garland, 42, of Frostburg, was also served with a Grand Jury indictment charging him with four counts of CDS possession not involving cannabis, two counts of possession with intent to distribute narcotics, one count of possession with intent to distribute and two counts of narcotics distribution. Garland was ordered held without bond following a Circuit Court bail review.
Krystal Ann Canfield, 38, of Cumberland, was served with four District Court warrants. Two warrants alleged a second failure to appear on charges of CDS possession not involving cannabis, while another alleged failure to comply with pretrial release conditions tied to possession of CDS while confined or detained and CDS possession. A fourth warrant charged Canfield with CDS possession not involving cannabis and fraud involving personal identification to avoid prosecution. Authorities said Canfield is being held without bond on all four cases.
Traffic warrants also served
Bradley Aaron Poole, 36, of Frostburg, was served with a Garrett County District Court warrant for failing to appear in traffic court on charges including driving without authorization, failing to display a driver’s license upon demand, failing to yield while making a left turn and failing to obey a traffic control device. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 27.
Aaron Thomas Byler, 43, of East Freedom, Pennsylvania, was served with a District Court warrant for failing to appear in traffic court on charges of driving without the required license and authorization. Deputies also issued citations for driving 64 mph in a 55 mph zone, failing to display a driver’s license upon demand and driving while suspended on an out-of-state license. Byler was released on his own recognizance.
